How to get to Valencia?

By plane

Valencia has an International Airport with great connections to the main cities within Spain and Europe.

Valencia's International Airport can be reached by public transportation from Hotel Las Arenas in about 50 minutes and by car 25 minutes. 

By Car

From Madrid: 

  • A3 toll road - 360km
  • National road A4 towards Castilla-La Mancha follow CM-220, C; 211 and then A3 - 370km. 

From Barcelona: 

  • C-32, E15/AP7 partial toll road - 350km.

From Sevilla & Granada: 

  • Partial toll road A92 follow E-15/A-7 then A-31 and A-7 - 760km

How to Move in Valencia?

To use the public transport you must travel with a valid ticket. You can purchase 1-way tickets on mostly all metro stations or purchase a Bonobus which will allow you transfers between metro and buses with prefered fares. 

Not all metro stations sell this, you can purchase in "Estanco" or "TABACCO" shops  or in main metro hubs. Not all services allow payment on the spot.

Places to visit

The City Valencia tells its story throught the historic buildings, parks, and barrios. You can find modern, historic and avant-garde buildings and art in perfect combination with nature. Around the city you will find, natural parks, waterfalls, thermal baths, beaches, fortresses and much more.

 

Beach

Valencia is famous for the mediterranean beaches and the iconic Hotel las Arenas, a remodeled healing thermal, now a 5 star deluxe hotel. 

 

You can also visit the old port and Aduana now host of multiple world renown Nautical and sailing events. 

Cathedral- downtown

Plaza del Ayuntamiento (downtown), the Cathedral, the Virgin Square, La Lonja (chamber of commerce), and the Central Market Place are historic and emblematic buildings worth visiting. 

City or arts and science

A dynamic scientific museum for kids and family. World renown architect  Santiago Calatrava, designed the buildings and parks in the old bed of the Turia river. 

 

You can visit the buildings, walk through the park or watch an i-max movie at the Hemispheric. 

 

Albufera

An endemic ecosystem, a sweet water estuary with local flora and fauna and old historic fishers houses. You can enjoy a traditional paella and relaxing boat ride with no motor. 

 

Paella is originally from Valencia, you can enjoy the famous seafood rice, the original rabbit rice or a vegetarian rice. 

Barrio del Carmen

Museums, iconic buildings, Torres de Serranos and Torres de Quart (ancient entrances to the walled city), restaurants, bars and the local folklore. 

Bioparc, Oceanografic

They are located on either side of the old Turia river bed. One a aquarium and the other a zoo with beautiful architecture and care for the animals and nature.  

Paseo de la Alameda

A walk in the old Turia river bed. Now a place to have a beautiful walk, enjoy concerts and fairs, bike, run, play sports and much more. 


Donde comer?

Your registration includes a light meal served around 11:30 daily. Please remember if you have a very specific diet we might not be able to accommodate your needs, you are allowed to bring your own food.

 

Additional meals are responsibility of every participant.

 

Almost any local cafeteria-bar, will have delicious Spanish cuisine. You can visit local markets for traditional food, and the Barrio Ruzafa host many local and international restaurant and bars in a lively Spanish neighborhood.

In the downtown area the prices and menus are more touristic oriented, but you will find savory foods. Do not miss the traditional paella, ornate and fartons and the different rice plates, fideuas, fish dishes and traditional seafood.
